About Work Readiness for Youth

Work Readiness for Youth is a unique and innovative 15 week program designed to enhance the essential employability skills for Youth combining learning and work opportunities.

The first 8 weeks involve daily learning activities to develop the essential skills that employers are expecting in the workforce. Some participants may be eligible to receive an allowance equivalent to minimum wage for 30 hours a week.

  • Learning Style
  • Social media and Internet Skills
  • Goal setting
  • Communication
  • Problem Solving
  • Giving and Receiving Feedback
  • Assertiveness
  • Stress Awareness and Management
  • Understanding Workplace Culture
  • Disclosure and Accommodations
  • Finding and Keeping a Job

Participants will practice strong job search skills including resumes, cover letter and interview preparation.

Topics include:

  • Labour Market Research
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Networking
  • Interview Preparation

The second phase of the Program is a 7 week paid work placement. We offer employers many benefits including reimbursement of 100% of paid minimum wages for 7 weeks.

Who Can Sign Up?

  • Youth with barriers to employment
  • Youth that are not working and not in school

When Can I Sign Up?

The Work Readiness for Youth 8 week workshop dates are as follows:

    Group One : January 16 to March 9
    Group Two: April 2 to May 25
    Group Three: June 11 to August 3
    Group Four: August 20 to October 12
