Programs to Develop Employability Skills

We offer customized training programs in computer skills, customer service, academic upgrading and ESL, Workplace Success, GED Preparation, and Job Search Skills to help build the skills of individuals looking to re-enter the workforce. In addition, we also provide co-op placement for individuals that qualify and fulfill the requirements for participating in the co-op program

Programs targeted to Persons With Disabilities

All of our programs are tailored to the individual needs of students, the vast majority of whom are recovering from injuries and are experiencing some level of disability

Cost

Our costs vary depending upon the length of the studentĦs program, but typically average $25.00 per hour

Criteria for Participation

As stated above, most of our clients are referred to us through organizations such as WSIB, ODSP, HRSDC, insurance companies, etc, though some are independent referrals (members of the general public interested in taking our programs). The pre-requisites for different programs vary. For example, in order to participate in the GED preparation course, an individual needs to demonstrate mid-secondary to high-secondary academic skills. In order to take part in the IC3 computer certification programs, the student needs to function at an early secondary language level in order to be able to comprehend the material taught

Monitoring Success

We monitor our clients on a daily basis, and compose individual monthly progress reports outlining their attendance, progress in all individual subject areas, as well as any issues or concerns that might affect their further progress. In addition, we constantly re-assess our clientĦs skills and compare results in order to determine progress

Participant Feedback

Students are encouraged to communicate and offer feedback at any time, and they can contact our company via our corporate web-site. Case managers are encouraged to complete our customer satisfaction survey

Follow up Program

We contact and gain feedback from clients 6, 12, and 18 months after they have left our organization

Obstacles Facing Program

The only significant ongoing challenge we face is in communicating the services we provide to our community client base

Is Program Well Utilized

Yes, the program is well utilized. We have built a positive rapport with our clients over the years of operation

Marketing & Recruitment

Most of our participants are recruited through referrals from the WSIB, ODSP, Human Resources and Development Canada, Ontario Works, etc. Some students contact us independently after viewing our website or seeing our Yellow Pages listings

Organizational Level of Programming Decisions

Programming is coordinated and reviewed centrally by our team of regional managers, but often developed and implemented locally dependent upon varying demographics and client needs and interests across the province.

Other

Our services are typically delivered in a 3:1 student:teacher ratio classroom format. Students receive individualized attention both when their program is originally designed, as well as on a daily instructional basis. Our staff is experienced in working with individuals who have special needs related to their injuries (extra breaks, oral exercises to avoid hand work, Àchubby" grip pens, texts that feature multiple choice answers that the student can respond to by dabbing a highlighter, etc). Our programs are individually developed to support specific vocational goals. As such, our programs are routinely tailored to develop job specific essential skills or to meet the entrance requirements for colleges or vocational schools.
