Programs to Develop Employability Skills

Career Coach – targets economically and socially disadvantaged youth and newcomers to Canada. Outcomes and benefits to clients include: clear employment goals, greater self-awareness, an understanding of community resources and services, plan of action leading to employment, greater self-confidence, communication strategies, conflict resolution skills, an understanding of workplace expectations etc. Youth Opportunities - designed to meet youths¡ employment needs through a series of program components: skills assessment/identification, increasing self confidence, defining realistic career goal, effective job search strategies, effective interview techniques, effective job search action plan. Experienced Workers Program – provides the information, tools and skills essential to a successful job search in today¡s market for job seekers who are age 45 and above. Workshops include: Personality Dimensions, Myths and Barriers to Employment, Managing Job Loss and Change, Career Anchors, Career Cruising, Skills Inventory, Labour Market Trends, Goal Setting, Business Communication, Interview Skills. Breaking Barriers – prepares Internationally Trained Professionals to effectively search for meaningful employment within their industry or trade through the development of Action Plans, consultation and research.

There is no fee charged for the Employability skills programs, however fees do apply for some of our other programs such as General Interest and ESL

Criteria for Participation

Individual programs have specific criteria, but targeted clients include youth who are economically and socially disadvantaged, experienced workers over 45 and internationally trained professionals.

Clients are encouraged to complete assessment forms and staff follow up with phone calls as well
