Building Workplace Essential Skills Online

Bow Valley College has adapted their existing Building Workplace Essential Skills classroom course for online delivery. The curriculum covers Reading Text, Document Use and Numeracy and is a highly interactive online tool that is fully articulated with TOWES. The BWESO pilot has launched! After a great Instructor Orientation Session with our 8 pilot partners at the end of January, the sites have started to facilitate the online course with their learners. We are pleased to have the following partners onboard for the pilot: NAIT, Keyano College, Fanshawe College, Douglas College, Northen Lights College, Manitoba Literacy Partners, Manitoba Lotteries, Bow Valley College. This is a wonderful mix of partners who have provided an enthusiastic group of instructors to assist in our research which hopes to illustrate whether the online platform is effective in teaching essential skills with these groups of learners. The pilot will come to a close at the end of April. An external evaluator will then develop a full evaluation of the project. We will be posting the results of the pilot in May. Stay tuned.
